Barker promoted to Bury manager.

Newly promoted League Two side Bury have appointed Richie Barker as manager following his caretaker spell.The 36-year-old took over after Alan Knill's move to Scunthorpe and lead the club to automatic promotion after wins in his first six games in charge.

He initially joined the club in June 2010 as head of youth development.

The former Rotherham, Mansfield, Hartlepool, Macclesfield and Brighton striker was forced to retire in May 2009 after a serious knee injury.
